Advanced EM Procedures:

“When Rare Becomes Real…”

Overview

Critical illness doesn’t respect geography.

For us rural folk many critical procedures are not on the daily menu, and some may only present a once in a career challenge. With opportunities for realistic, hands-on preparation equally rare, we usually only have visual imagery to fall back when that rare moment arrives.

This immersive 4.5-hour pre-conference workshop is your chance to turn your mental rehearsal into muscle memory.

Designed for senior emergency clinicians and decision-makers, it goes beyond routine resuscitation to explore the critical procedures that matter when standard approaches fail. Work through challenging scenarios, handle specialist equipment, refine advanced techniques and learn alongside experienced colleagues who understand the realities of isolated practice.

Get hands-on with:

  • Advanced adult airway management, including SALAD and the use of the LMA as a conduit
  • AMBU flexible fibreoptic scope techniques
  • Front-of-neck access and cricothyroidotomy
  • Emergency orbital decompression
  • Management of complex facial trauma with control of severe epistaxis and facial packing

In medicine- we don’t get lucky- we prepare for the moment of opportunity.

Rare procedures. High stakes. No room for hesitation.

Join us in Hobart to challenge yourself, sharpen your procedural edge and be ready to act when PREPARATION finally meets OPPORTUNITY.
